EASTERN UNION, NIGERIA (EU).
Eastern Union is a Civil Society Organization formed in 2006 and officially launched at Lagos Airport Hotel Ikeja, Lagos in 2007.
Membership into union is open to all indigenous people of the Old Eastern Region of Nigeria which includes the people from the present day:
SOUTH-EAST AND SOUTH-SOUTH ZONES.
Membership is also drawn from various professional bodies, Youth Organizations, Artisans, Elder Statesmen & women, Traders, Entrepreneurs etc.
THE OBJECTIVES
(1).To foster peace, love and unity amongst member states in particular.
(2).To educate and mobilize the members for active political participation towards good governance.
(3).To protect and defend members against violations of their rights.
(4).To stand as a watchdog against tyranny and obnoxious policies of the governments.
(5).To foster good social, political and economic relationship amongst member states.
(6).To promote and support infrastructural development in the region.
(7).To lobby and attract various forms of empowerment to the members of region.
(8).To promote bills that will benefit the region in particular and Nigeria in general.
